Luke 1:45 “You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what He said.”
These words were spoken to Mary by her cousin Elizabeth after the Holy Spirit conceived the Messiah in her womb. God spoke to her, and did an unusual work in her life, yet Mary suffered persecution for it. Her fiance wanted to divorce her and most likely people started to slander her reputation as she was pregnant and not even married yet.
But she was called blessed… Sometimes when the Lord speaks into in a person’s life, people may not always understand, and they judge unfairly. It’s not always easy. But when you believe God and take Him at His word, He does a deep work in your heart, and eventually things turn around for your good. To be blessed is to be fortunate… Because God never leaves you, and you come to know Him in such a real and intimate way that nothing can shake the peace He brings to you. His grace and truth become real to you. He gives you wisdom and understanding that changes you; and eventually, you are vindicated.
To be chosen by God is not always easy, but the benefits far outweigh the challenges. And the honor and privilege to hear His voice, feel His heart, and see His hand at work are things that once you experience, you will not trade for anything in this world!
