Jesus, The Head Over All Things

Ephesians 1:22-23 “God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is His body, it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself.”

Just like in the military where ranks are respected and commands given from the higher up to positions below, that is the authority that is followed in the spiritual realm.
Jesus was placed at the highest position, and it says “for the benefit of the church”. Those of us who are in Christ are a part of Christ’s body, which implies that we have been given the same authority so that we can exercise dominion in this world. When we see someone being harassed by the devil (i.e. sickness, lack, addictions, etc) we have the authority to do something about it. God wants us to “set captives free, open prison doors, let the blind see and the oppressed go free” (Luke 4:18)
And just so we remember not to get arrogant, because Christ is our head, and a body cannot survive without a head, we have to stay connected to Him. We cannot exercise any authority in this world without getting instruction from Him, hearing His voice so we get His wisdom and guidance.
In Christ, we are made full and complete. This is likened to a ship in the old days filled with everything needed to complete a journey: rowers, sailors, soldiers, merchandise and freight. And as we sail along life’s journey, everything needed to reach our intended destination has already been given to us. In Christ, we can live this life filled to the abundance with peace, love, joy, health, good success, all the while making a difference in the lives of others, and spreading the good news of what Christ has done for all!
