1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
We are admonished to endeavor with strenuous zeal, the way one contends to win in athletic games, the fight for the conviction of truth; and to seize the fullness of life that comes from God, a life that is blessed and whole… Sometimes challenges come to you that cause you to go against the current, and you have to exert the effort to get back what you lost, to fight for what you believe is your inheritance in God. It is a “good fight” because you’re on God’s side, and all that means is you know what the end will be: it will be good! It says you were called to lay hold on eternal life: it is God’s plan for you to live a life that is blessed!
To confess the good confession is the words you speak are words of life, words of blessing, words that build up… That is how you fight the fight of faith – by your words. That is also how you lay hold on eternal life. We have more power than we realize. Life and death are in your mouth.
