Life and Death Are In The Power Of Tongue

Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”

Many times we can say a lot of words and think they don’t mean anything. We can curse ourselves or other people loosely, and think it’s just an expression not realizing that we can be our own worst enemy. But words have power. Whenever we speak we are releasing negative or positive energy into the world around us. When you say “I’m sick and tired of ….” You are calling forth sickness and tiredness to yourself. When you get something wrong and say “oh I’m so stupid!” You are enforcing stupidity on yourself.

In Genesis, when God created the heavens and the earth, He spoke things into existence. Then on the day He created man, He said: let us make man to be LIKE us. He created man with the power to create and to rule in this world. So every time we speak, we create our own world, knowingly or unknowingly.

Look at the world around you and see if you like it or not. Now think about how you have been talking, the words you have been saying. If you don’t like it, change the words you’ve been saying. Change how you talk about yourself and your situations, and the people around you. Start becoming aware of the words that come out of your mouth. You are more powerful than you realize.

“Abba, help me to be watchful over the words that I say. Let my words only be words of life and blessing, words of encouragement and peace. And by Your grace, I will keep declaring Your goodness over my life, over my family, my work and the world around me. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
