Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.”
The word for “restore” could be understood in 2 ways. One is to retrieve a straying sheep, the other is to renew and revive those who have grown weary. The Good Shepherd brings back the one who has strayed away; and those who have grown weary, He refreshes. There are also times when a sheep falls on its back, and when it does, it cannot put itself back up, and so it becomes vulnerable to predators.
We all have a tendency to stumble and fall. When we are down, we are vulnerable to attack from despair and despondency. When we are down, that’s when we need the Good Shepherd. He helps us back on our feet again. He brings us to refreshing waters. He brings us to peace. He brings us back to joy.
“Jesus,You know all things. You understand all that I’ve been through. Out of all the craziness in this world, I can find my peace in You. You bring me back to wholeness. Thank You for being my Good Shepherd, always looking out for me. My life is in Your hands. You are my Lord and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.”
