Psalm 23:6 “Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
God’s goodness is His graciousness. His unfailing love is His steadfast love; it never wavers, you can always count on it. Both His goodness and love flow out from Who He is, not because we deserve it. It also says they “pursue me” – this shows how eager God is to pour out His goodness and love on us! The same way a loving father wants to give the best he can give to his children, our Abba wants to lavish on His children. For how long? “All the days of my life”! For as long as I am alive, His goodness and love will ALWAYS be there! He will discipline me if He has to, because that is part of His goodness. God doesn’t have spoiled kids, so He will always do what’s best for me! How do I know He will do it? The verse starts with “surely”. That means it is certain. I KNOW I can count on His goodness and loving kindness for as long as there is breath within me.
“My Daddy-God, how marvelous You are that Your heart is always to do what’s best for me – pouring out Your kindness and goodness and mercy and love toward me! How wonderful it is that I can ALWAYS count on You whatever situation I may find myself in, to never leave me, never abandon me. I want Your love to be more real than anything in this world, so that You are what consumes me. You deserve nothing less. And I will live for You all my life, by Your grace, in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
