Joshua 3:5,15,16 “Then Joshua told the people, ‘Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you…It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge, the water above that point began backing up a great distance away at a town called Adam…”
The Israelites were getting ready to cross the Jordan River, beyond that lay The Promised Land. Finally, after 40 years, they were reaching their destination! The Lord spoke to Joshua to tell the people to prepare for what He would do among them. The word “among” in Hebrew means “the inward part, the seat of thought and emotion” – that refers to the soul. The Lord was preparing them to receive their inheritance, The Land of Promise; and He was going to do a wonder : something that wasn’t just extraordinary, it was beyond understanding and difficult to do.
What’s the most difficult thing to do? To deal with the issues in your own soul that have wounded you, overwhelmed you, brought bitterness, anger and unforgiveness, especially the issues that have been passed down to you or you faced since you were little; when you can’t help but hurt those you care for or be in bondage to addictions that plague you.
The Ark, which is a symbol of God’s Presence, as soon as the priests carrying it touched the river, the waters moved back all the way to a town miles away called Adam. That means that He was going to deal with all the issues that affected them even those that were passed down!
What does it mean for you? There are dreams in your heart that you have held onto, some dreams you’re even afraid to dream of because it’s been so long withheld. Many times the reason you haven’t gotten them yet is because of all these issues in your soul not dealt with. Only God can save you from them. And He came, through Jesus Christ, to save you!
“Abba, You know what the issues in my soul are. I plead the Blood of Jesus to wash me and I apply the Resurrection Power to bring excellence to my soul. Thank You Abba that even now You have brought me deliverance because of what Jesus did for me on the Cross. Thank You for bringing understanding and enlightenment to me as You work through all of these issues. I receive all that You have set aside for me to fulfill my purpose in this life. In Jesus most precious Name I pray, amen!”
