1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances. For this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
It’s God’s will for us to always be full of joy, to always pray, to always be grateful. All these things are indicative of the focus of our hearts and mind. When we are full of joy it’s because we see God’s hand in our circumstances so we can be thankful because we know He is always good, therefore whatever situations we face, we will come out triumphant because He is with us, He is for us, and He is using the situation to mold Christ’s character in us. To constantly pray doesn’t necessarily mean we are constantly mouthing prayers, but that our hearts are constantly in communion with Him. We could also be praying in tongues because it is His Holy Spirit praying through us so we become a channel for His Spirit to move freely in us and through us. These 3 things are part of what keeps us strong spiritually. If it was important enough to be mentioned for us to do, it must be important for us to remember to do them.
“Abba, I keep my heart and mind focused on You, I yield to the promptings of Your Spirit as I continually surrender my will to Yours. By Your grace and power at work in me, through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, amen.”
