John 15:15 “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
We must get out of the mindset of being God’s servants, God said, I will no longer call you servants, I will call you friends. A servant is concerned about a list of completed tasks, while a friend is concerned about being involved in each other’s lives. While obedience is important for every believer, a servant obtains favor by what he does, a friend does by his relationship. A servant’s main goal has to do with serving, a friend’s main goal has to do with the heart of the friend, his thoughts and feelings. It’s about the joy of friendship, it’s about passion and intimacy.
A servant works to be accepted. A child of God starts already accepted.
“Abba, I am grateful that you call me Your friend. It’s a relationship You want. Letting me know Your heart, Your thoughts, Your plans even as I communicate my heart with You. Continue to teach me Your Word as Your Holy Spirit changes my heart and renews my mind. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”
