Galatians 3:3 “How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?”
Everyone is aware of the grace of God that brought one to the point of receiving Jesus in their hearts. But there are many who, after becoming a Christian, work to clean up their life by their own effort – trying to get rid of addictions, studying the Word, developing a faith life, etc You think you must work to become the ideal Christian to earn the favor of God, determined to do what’s right so that God will answer your prayer requests. Living the Christian life is relying on God’s grace and power at work in you, living out of the mindset that He paid the price for your redemption and victory, and that you are already the righteousness of God in Christ. Your willpower and determination will cause you to struggle and get you frustrated. You were meant to live at rest in the finished work of the Cross. A godly life is the result of an intimate relationship with Him, not of your effort.
“Abba, help me to always rely on You and not my own strength or effort. My life is Your work, not mine. I am Yours, because of Jesus, amen.”
