Psalm 19:14 “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. “
What are the words that come out of your mouth? What are the thoughts that you dwell on – when you think about others, about yourself, about situations? These thoughts and these words determine how your life will go. They determine your attitudes, how slowly or quickly you will recover after you stumble and fall. That’s why it is crucial to think and speak the way the Bible says to. When someone hurts you, do you ask help from God so you can forgive? When you face your weaknesses, do you see God’s strength at work in you? When you stumble, do you berate and condemn yourself or repent and move on? The writer called God “my Rock” because He’s the One Who keeps him steady and grounded; and “my Redeemer” because He’s the One Who makes the wrong things in your life right again. If you focus on the wrong things about yourself, you’ll just get depressed. But if you focus on the Greater One Who lives IN you, on His power changing you, then hope can rise up in your heart because you know that He is the One holding you and nothing is impossible for Him!
“Holy Spirit, guard the thoughts that I dwell on and the words that I speak so that my life will be lived in victory, for the glory of God. I ask this in the Mighty Name of Jesus, Whose I am, amen.”
