Isaiah 40:12 “Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?”
Have you ever wondered how big could our God be? This verse gives a clue. It says He could hold the oceans in His hand. According to Google, that’s about 326 million trillion gallons. All that fits in His hand! Next it says He could measure the heavens with His fingers. The word “heavens” is the word “universe” when translated literally from Hebrew to English. The universe contains galaxies, and one galaxy alone contains several solar systems. According to the Science Network, the “distance to the edge of the observable universe is about 46 billion light years.” It’s so big that even light hasn’t had time to cross it in nearly 14 billion years! And the verse says that He can measure the universe with His fingers! How big could the Almighty God be? Brobdingnagian!!! (That’s a big word for humongous) And His mind is so awesome that He even knows how much each mountain and hill weighs. In fact, He knows how much the whole earth weighs! Yet with all of that He still knows smaller very specific details like how many strands of hair you have on your head! (Luke 12:7) There’s no machine on earth that could do that! Why? Because He loves you! There isn’t any problem too big He can’t solve, nor any too small that He doesn’t want you to bring before Him. If it’s important to you then He wants you to be able to bring it before Him.
“It’s such a relief to know not just that You’re bigger than any problem I could face, but that You love me enough to want to face them with me! I don’t face them alone but with Your strength and power. And because I listen to You, I know I will overcome, in Jesus’ Name, amen!”
